DEPARTMENT SUMMARY
The Magistrate Court is a limited jurisdiction court that handles civil and criminal cases. The jurisdictional limit for civil cases is $15,000.00 or less. The Court handles filings for civil claims, dispossessory proceedings, garnishments, personal property foreclosures, FIFA’s, abandoned motor vehicles, abandoned mobile homes, county ordinance violations, deposit account fraud and pre-warrant applications. The Magistrate Court also issues arrest warrants.
The Court conducts public hearings for bonds and first appearance matters, pre-warrant applications, and any contested proceeding which falls within the jurisdiction of the Court.
